Roy D. Smith (See samples of Roy's work here) Born in 1971, Roy has been drawing since he could first hold a pencil. Like many young children with an active imagination at this time, he was caught in the grip of the phenomenon known as Star Wars. This was a driving force in his creativity and, even now, he prefers illustrations of the bizarre and futuristic.
As a teenager, Roy discovered the fantastic world of comic books. Telling stories through the use of art still fascinates him, and he enjoys many different styles and genres in this field.
Pencil and pen & ink are the tools of choice for this artist, and he uses these simple tools to bring his comic strips and characters to life. Recently he has been adding his love of computers to his bag of tricks by starting to learn Adobe Illustrator.
Roy holds an associate’s degree in mechanical design and engineering and puts his skills to use in a large local company. His solid knowledge of AutoCAD is a good base for learning 3-Dimensional design and can also come in handy for other creative projects.
Working with ADO Designs continues to be a great experience for Roy and is his primary outlet for artistic creativity, although he also has several side jobs. ADO Designs has helped him push his artistic boundaries in ways that he never thought of before.
In the future, Roy would like to explore even more avenues of art by developing different styles and working with different media.
